LIBERAL powerbroker Nick Minchin has attacked a new report that declares the world is in imminent danger from human-induced climate change as offensive nonsense from known “global warming alarmists”.
Senator Minchin, who played a key role in terminating Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership over his support for emissions trading, said there was still a legitimate debate over the role of humans in climate change.
“The so-called Climate Commission is a Labor government-appointed committee of known climate alarmists, selectively appointed … to further the cause of global warming alarmism,” he said following today’s release of the commission’s first report.
“I think everybody should take anything they say with a grain of salt,” Senator Minchin said.
“What’s most offensive is (climate commissioner) Will Steffen suggesting the scientific debate is over.
“That’s nonsense because there is a very lively scientific debate about the role of human-induced Co2 emissions in climate change.” (source)

From way back in the tumultuous days of 2009 under the despicable Turncoat, this courageous and decent man has stood tall. Indeed, it could be argued that he, more than any other in the Coalition, engineered the train of events that saw the demise of the CPRS.

Do you possess any power of critical thought? You don’t have to be a climate scientist to see that the debate on this issue has been shut down by this government. The climate commission has no dissenting views AT ALL – they don’t even want to hear anything that may challenge the consensus.
And if you are blinkered enough to believe “the debate’s over”, then you’re mind is obviously closed to the possibility that it isn’t, and you are operating on quasi-religious faith.
And finally, don’t lecture me on the scientific process, either. I know that you don’t MAKE UP DATA. You don’t avoid handing over your calculations for scrutiny. You don’t delete emails when you receive an FOI request.

the article by Gore wasnt published in a Scientific journal,it holds the same weight in scientific circles as Plimers nonsense….Flannery leads a board of review..hes not required to have credentials in the area to oversee review of the data,he just needs to understand the processes in place, Public Policy has always been the domain of economists…garnaut doesnt make any contribution to the scientific debate…101 for climate science mate..do some homework
Have you ever looked up any work by Professors Ian Plimer & Bob Carter, 2 Australian scientists who put up alternative views to the Climate Commission.
It appears to me that the alarmists seem so keen that mankind is to blame they wont even consider another point of view.
There are so many holes in the warming theory that it demands further investigation.
Science theories are accepted when it is confirmed by observation. A single observation that contradicts the theory is sufficent to refute it. Not only has there been no confirmed observation of the warming theory, it has been refuted multiple times.
But that will not be covered anywhere by our lazy media or read by alarmists.
Plimer has no published work in peer reviewed Journals on Climate science..you can write what you like basically if its not reviewed, ..Carter is on the board of the Institute of Public affairs…a right wing spin tank funded by the tobacco and energy lobby…do a bit of homework guys…there have been over 20,000 reviewed works in the area of climate science and 97% of them support the IPCC position…and the very least thats a risk management problem of extreme proportions

If will give you an insight as to why we have little or no regard for peer reviewed journals provided by know alarmists and the IPCC. I think it would be easy for like minded people with vested interests to mutually agree to protect their job / career. Classing Plimers work as “nonsense” adds nothing to the debate.

The fact is that the alarmists are losing the argument and they are getting angry. The alarmists are fortunate that the mainstream media is too lazy to investigate the sceptics claims, as it would shoot down the whole AGW fiasco very quickly. We all know that the media loves a good scare campaign to distract the masses, and a revelation that everything is ok wont get anyones attention.
One has to remember that the SOLE PURPOSE of the Climate Commission is to act as a PROPAGANDA MACHINE for the Green/Labor Carbon Tax.
That is ALL IT HAS DONE. It has not presented a single NEW IDEA or way of coping with their perceived problem. All it has done is regurgitate the nonsense from the IPCC and even more extreme alarmists.

Well I think it ends with “waste of time and money”.
I’ve appraised all of the literature objectively. I believe the basic data for global warming per se is seriously flawed. I can accept that staistical analysis of the data obtained from Stephenson Screens all over the world has shown a staistically significant increase of 0.4 degrees centigrade over the last 30 years, but the sites from which the data has been collected has changed dramatically.
Note that cyclones form only over oceans at specific temperatures and that cyclones are still hitting the Australian coastline in the same areas they did over 100 years ago and that the location of the major and minor deserts of the world have not changed their locations in the last 100 years.
Where do I find a transcript of the report from this Commission and the data they used to draw conclusions?

mate , i dare say you have looked at less than .00001% of the literature…there are over 20,000 articles, spreading over 16 scientific disciplines ,most of which are incredibly dense mathematical models which about .00001% of the worlds population understands…the science is incredibly complicated and cant be summarised in an inane blog by a non scientist..dont kid yourself that you have any grasp of the science at all.

How can we start a petition for Nick for PM to run for a lower house seat, I am certain there is a lot of support in the Liberal ranks. For years I have marvelled at his common sense comments on election nights, why cant somone like that be running our country. I used to think we were causing climate change until I listened to John Howard interviewed when he was a climate skeptic, and did my own research, what I never understood is why John Howard turned in his last year to a ETS I can only think it was Turnballs influence as it would not have been Minchins.

Nick Minchin is the only Liberal I like hearing from on the climate change issue.
The official Liberal party view is that man made climate change is happening and has to be addressed by “direct action”.
Obviously Nick is retiring in July so he feels that he can be open with his own opinions.
I guess Im more anti-Gillard / Labor Govt, than pro-conservative, but the conservatives seem to be the lesser of 2 evils, so they will get my support at the ballot box.
Good solid stuff as usual from Nick. He and my other fellow Adelaide boy, Cory, are looking pretty good. Maybe some of that will rub off on me. What do you mean, I need to earn it? Oh well.
I’ve lived in Australia for a long long time and can’t beleive that for a so called cleaver country, we have absolutely crazy people running this place into oblivion. Climate has been changing since the year dot!! What happened to Global warming?
