Quotes of the Day: Will Steffen

Quote of the Day

In a sycophantic piece in the Sydney Morning Herald Will Steffen, the Gillard government's climate adviser, claims, without any irony, that science knows all there is to know about the earth's climate:

''What debate? There is no debate in the scientific community about this."

And another one for luck:

''We don't debate gravity, we don't debate the tides.''

Apparently, he's also "bemused, frustrated and appalled" that the media dares publish anything that criticised the consensus as well.

Odd that just today, an article claims that the IPCC artificially adjusted the results of a peer-reviewed study on climate sensitivity so that they fitted better with the organisation's political aims. Is that what you mean when you say there's no debate?

Odd also that there are a thousand or so peer-reviewed papers that challenge the consensus and new ones are published every week - hang on, they would be published in the wrong journals and written by the wrong scientists, I guess.

With people like Steffen advising the government, what could possibly go wrong?

Read it here (and weep).

“We don’t debate gravity, we don’t debate the tides.”

For once you’re right. WHY don’t we debate those things fool?

Yet even Stephen Hawking cannot come up with unified theory involving gravity. While there is no debate over the existance of gravity, there is debate about it.
When a scientist in the position of Steffan makes a claim like this, it is clear he is being deliberately dishonest. Why would he do this?

Poor Will Steffen has a dummy spit because he believes there is no need for a debate over global warming/climate change. This guy belongs to the lunatic left brigade, an eco-socialist academic who wants Australia to achieve a zero emissions economy. He is without doubt Australia’s chief climate alarmist, followed very closely by Tim Foolery.

An ad hominem is “You belong to the lunatic left brigade, and are an eco-socialist academic who wants Australia to achieve a zero emissions economy, therefore I am assuming that your views on climate change are nonsense”. Baldrick’s comment is “Your views on climate change are nonsense, and therefore I am concluding that you belong to the lunatic left brigade, and are an eco-socialist academic who wants Australia to achieve a zero emissions economy”.

And Tim Foolery refers to the marvellous clown.

I believe he also juggles.

Since there’s no debate and they know all there is to know, I guess Steffen won’t mind having all funding pulled from climate science. There’s lots of other areas in government where that money could be put to better use.

Brilliant logical conclusion, Dave.

i agree, brilliant conclusion. Someone should email this to him.

What scientist? It is just another Gillard Wizzard. Another left wing aparatchik leech sucking taxpayers dry.

Adam July 8, 2011 at 9:31 am

Does it surprise anyone that both the heads of Juliar’s Climate Commission are NOT climate scientists?
Flannery is a mammologist and Steffen is a chemical engineer!

WHAT?

Surely if you wanted to get the truth, you would appoint a decorated climate scientist as the head, no?

UNLESS

You only want the answers that you already told them to give you?

If I worked for the Government, and my tenuous ill gained job depended on government money.. well maybe I would lie too.
