UN still flogging the dead horse of "extreme weather"

The UN and extreme weather

Doesn’t matter how many times this kind of nonsense is debunked (even by warmist scientists, and played down even by the IPCC just a few days ago), the UN apparatchiks, with their rusted-on political agenda of climate socialism, just cannot let it go, especially when the delegates at Durban are desperate to ratchet up the alarmism:

The world is getting hotter, with 2011 one of the warmest years on record, and increasing temperatures are expected to amplify floods, droughts and other extreme weather patterns around the planet, said a U.N. report released on Tuesday.

The World Meteorological Organization, part of the United Nations, said the warmest 13 years of average global temperatures have all occurred in the 15 years since 1997. [Carefully omitting the fact that records only go back about 150 years. Big freaking deal. – Ed]

That has contributed to extreme weather conditions that increase the intensity of droughts and heavy precipitation across the world, it said.

“Our science is solid and it proves unequivocally that the world is warming and that this warming is due to human activities,” WMO Deputy Secretary-General Jerry Lengoasa told reporters in Durban. (source)

Yawn, yawn, yawn. No-one’s listening any more – not even the media. Same old spin, same old propaganda, same old BS. The party is truly over, folks, best start getting used to it.

  1. Well we are 10 years behind in everything anyway………

  2. The media are still going strong on this here on Québec… If i want some information saying that the global warming is not man made or other things like that i have to go take the information outside of the province

  3. We’re off to see the blizzard, the wonderful blizzard in Oz …

Oh Please! Reading this article was liking giving hogwash a hand!

  5. Crazy times we live people…follow the $$$$$$$

  6. Quakes, floods, bet asteroids shall be next. The Universe is warning us against Carbon, by sending asteroids at us!

  7. The world is getting hotter:
    1921 and from 1952

    The world is getting cooler:
    1922 and from 1951

Truth is, the climate will do what the climate will do!

  8. Strange that the earth used to have more carbon dioxide than it does now and vegetation grew better than it does now. If we reduce carbon does that mean we will have a shortage of food, people will starve and therefore reduce the population. It might just work and solve part of the problem.

  9. Sean Reynolds via Facebook says:

What problem, Anne? Are you flogging the overpopulation furphy? When you remove yourself from the global population, I will at least believe that you believe that there are too many people. When you look at most of the photos involved in population scare stories, they are usually of black Africans, Indians, and Asians, but never caucasians. My interpretation of this is that there is a strong racist undercurrent to people promoting the population scare as they seem to be saying that there are too many blacks, indians, and other non-whites in the world.

  10. Ross Stacey says:

Well the headlines in Australia are about the number of people who will die in year 2100 because of globalwarming.

  11. Lew Skannen says:

We keep hearing that the science is solid… but for some reason we are never actually shown the science.
Must be too solid to actually get out and display…

  12. William McDonald via Facebook says:

. Sorry, hate to admit it, but there ARE too many people in the world!!

    • Betty Whiffin says:

There won’t be ANY people in the world if these organisations manage to crash economies as they are intent on doing. Then no-one knows when a little ice age will appear, crops all die and people starve. Take away CO2 and again crops die. All the UN members have is dollar signs in their eyes.

  13. Its time to spread our wings and bring this fight to the world

  14. It is now on record that the last year for Australia was only the 11th hottest since records started to be kept. That was well in exces of 170 years ago. So what s all the BS about “we will die of the heat” ?

  15. Sean Reynolds via Facebook says:

Too many people William? So if we go out for a wander around the world, can you point out to me which people are surplus to requirements? How about we start off with you: Go on, justify your existence. If there are too many people, then are you part of the surplus to requirements or not? Justify why you should stay here and not some Africans, Indians or Chinese.

  16. Sean Reynolds via Facebook says:
  17. Texas Climatologist Katharine Hayhoe has been prominent in claiming that extreme weather is increasing in Texas due to global warming.

These studies show her claims lack all credibility and that extreme weather events are not increasing.
