Delingpole on the Finkelstein report

JD

James Delingpole has devoted his column today to Australia’s teetering on the brink of a Finkelsteinian Nightmare. He argues that we must suffer the full totalitarian reality of the progressive Left in order then to comprehensively reject it:

But as far as I’m concerned, the man’s a total bloody hero and when I come to Oz in mid-April I’d like to buy him a pint. Why? Because thanks to good old Raymond I’m going to sell loads more copies of my book Killing The Earth To Save It: How Environmentalists are Ruining the Planet, Destroying the Economy and Stealing Your Jobs (Connor Court).

Raymond – or Pinkie Finkie, as I’m sure he’d preferred it if I called him, because the Aussies do love a bit of informality, don’t they? – has produced a report on media regulation in Australia so terrifyingly authoritarian it makes the Leveson Enquiry look like a model of balance, sanity and restraint. (According to Mark Steyn – via Jo Nova – the Chinese have been eyeing Pinkie Finkie’s report with gobsmacked admiration, wondering whether they could ever get away with producing something quite so extreme…)

But let’s allow lefties like Pinkie Finkie and Gillard and Tim Flannery and Bob Brown their hour in the sun because the longer they stay there, the more damage they do and the more damage they will be seen to have done. This is important. (The same applies to Obama’s US; sadly it’s not going to work here, not with Cameron poisoning the wells for Conservatism for ever). If Australia is to get the government it needs (and deserves) it must first experience the full horror of the government it doesn’t deserve. The more easily ordinary people can see just how authoritarian, petty-minded, bullying, meddling and grotesquely biased the left can be when it holds the reins of power, the more enthusiastic they’ll be about throwing the bastards into the croc pit come 2013. (Or sooner, if we’re lucky). (source)

Read it all. And just to repeat, James’ excellent book is here. Full review to follow.

  1. Jack Lamb via Facebook says:

Unfortunately I agree with him. I also think that we are all going to have to survive the full reality of socialism before the voter at large realizes he/she has surrendered liberty.

  2. The problem here is that once law is enacted, rarely is it changed or retracted.

  3. Vivienne says:

We have a Socialist Government with a Socialist PM. Pushing the Socialist United Nations Agenda 21 on us all, plus a weak insipid media. Wake UP Everyone, before it is too late!!

    • gyptis444 says:

      Vivienne,
      You are absolutely correct.
It is incredible that this so called ‘government’ has been allowed to get away with the lies and deceit that have occurred to date. Now they want to impose censorship on top of that and abolish the right of free speech.
      ELECTION NOW!

  4. The problem with this approach is twofold. 1, The more time in power, the more damage they do, and 2. Laws, once enacted, very rarely get retracted or abolished.

  5. The Loaded Dog says:

Come on James. You can do better than that.

    It’s “Pinko Finko”…not Pinkie Finkie…

  6. They’re trying it out… just a little poke just to see. They wouldn’t dare attempt it now but they know that within a few years it will be more accepted by more of the sheep and easier to legislate.

  7. Betty Whiffin says:

Frankenstein is sucking the blood of this nation. Can’t people see it? Are they blind to what lies ahead? Or too “laid back” to even see the consequences. It will be too late if they do not wake up NOW. Look what is going on in Rusia. Are we to be fed propoganda with our lives controlled so that Australians end up like zombies? Forget about using your brains, they will be frozen. Anyone who values the truth, morality and normality should stand against this perversion of human rights and freedom. God help Australia.

  8. Baldrick says:

Anyone who thinks this farce of a Media Inquiry is not an attack on ‘free speech’ by the left-tards are seriously mistaken.

Of the 10,600 ‘short’ submissions to the ‘Meja Inquiry’, 9,600 were in pro-forma style sent by 2 main groups – Avaaz & NewsStand.

NewsStand’s board reads like a who’s who in left-wing media circles with definite links to GetUp!
Avaaz is a socialist organisation and “It (Avaaz) was also supported by GetUp!, an Australian non-profit campaigning organization.”

This is a real attempt by organisations with a socialist agenda to muzzle the Australian media and inhibit ‘free speech’.

  9. Here in Canada we have an army of leftist pinko socialist who would think this probable Labor ALP manifesto is just the ticket. The Marxist are spread far and wide across this planet but this disgusting anti democratic policy paper take the prize. James Delingpole is (unfortunately) right there are still to many starry eyed ALP/Green believers in Auss to change things just yet, it’s still a long way to the bottem. I have been thinking the same about King pinko Obama he just can’t help himself he will destroy any vestige of the US middle class and the economy. He like Gillard would sooner poison the well than let go of the socialist dream, so in a way I won’t be over come with grief if he gets back in in November to finish the control freak race to the bottom of the economic scum pond, with a newly minted 3rd world navana were everybody is poor and pissed off except for the elite. Then we can have a real revolution and stampede to the middle!

  10. Glen Balmer via Facebook says:

The Liberal Party have stated they will revoke all anti-free-speech laws enacted by the Labor/Green/Indie (Facist) government.

  11. Bryan Harris says:

Oh Yes, I do like this:

The more easily ordinary people can see just how authoritarian, petty-minded, bullying, meddling and grotesquely biased the left can be when it holds the reins of power, the more enthusiastic they’ll be about throwing the bastards into the croc pit come 2013.

    Excellent quote …

  12. I prefer fecalstain

  13. “There are none so enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free.”

Folks, this is all going to get a lot worse before it even looks like getting better. About 30% of the Oz population is in receipt of some form of welfare. Who do you think this bunch is going to vote for? Add on a few percent of rusted on ALP types who, whilst actually working for a living, are still stuck in some sort of class-warfare timewarp.

All you need now is a sprinkling of inner-city Greens to cement a Socialist regime in place. Right now the Coalition has about a 54/46 lead. That gap will close as the next election looms. Abbott is by no means assured of victory next year.

The fact is that no Coalition government has ever had the gumption to repeal all the preceding socialist legislation enacted by the ALP. When they finally achieve power, they find themselves struggling under the weight of this idealogical baggage. As a result the economy inevitably falters, the “conservatives” get kicked out and replaced by the next socialist government which promptly enacts even more of its dogma.

    Argentina, here we come!
