Whole lotta fudge
Another CRU-style scandal may be brewing as it is revealed by the New Zealand’s Climate Science Coaltion that the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) appears to have added “corrections” to raw temperature data, leading to increased warming:
Before:

Raw temperature data
After:

After adjustments
What’s the big deal?
Hansen’s been doing this for years:
CRU has obviously been doing this for years as well.
Reading between the lines in ClimateGate emails, the data from Australia is highly dodgy as well.
The Kiwis just didn’t want to feel left out. Typical!
And now back to my current culinary project: “The Climate Scientist’s Cookbook”
There was some interesting email exchanges in the CRU emails between Jim Salinger, previously of NIWA, and the CRU team going back several years. He helped squash several skeptical papers before they could be published. After Jim Salinger was precipitously fired by NIWA this year, Phil Jones notes in an email to someone that he will have to find another source for data in NZ after Jim was fired, but it shouldnt be a problem because its a small country. Dr. Salinger was still helping the CRU to “review” skeptical journal artices after he was fired. Email exchanges showed him asking “who wants to be in on this?” in rebutting a paper he didnt like. He thanks MIke Mann for supplying rebuttals to a paper as he says when suppressing the paper its important it appear to be on academic grounds. Mike Mann writes back to tell him he was glad to help, and asks him if climate skeptics in the southern hemisphere rotate anticlockwise.
Im sure theres an interesting back story as to why Jim Salinger was fired (Im not buying the cited reason), he started legal action against NIWA and then suddenly just dropped his case for reinstatement and asked for his leave entitlements and a retrenchment package.
To add toPAUA—Salinger came to NZ from East Anglia uni–Who got what of the 13,718,547 sterling–get the taxman to investigate
